LIVE ORQUESTRA FROM BUENOS AIRES!

LA JUAN D’ARIENZO

Since their 2012 debut in Buenos Aires, La Juan D’Arienzo has aimed to offer listeners and dancers the characteristic music in the style of the legendary tango orchestra leader Juan D’Arienzo, who was known as the Rey del Compás, or the King of the Rhythm. The young and talented musicians not only offer the style of one of the greatest orchestras in Argentine tango history, but they also bring a freshness that has been welcomed by audiences around the world.

The orchestra consists of 11 musicians: Pablo Valle on piano; Andres Santarciero on double bass; Juan Pablo Cravenna, Sebastian Frassón, Pablo Ginzburg, and Emilio Pagano on violins; Pablo Amado, Ricardo Badaracco, Facundo Lazzari, and Oscar Yemha on bandoneóns; and Fernando Rodas, a talented singer. The orchestra is directed by the first bandoneónist, Lazzari, whose grandfather was Carlos Lazzari, the first bandoneónist and arranger for the original Juan D’Arienzo Orchestra from 1950 until 1976, when D’Arienzo passed away, and then the leader of Los Solistas de D’Arienzo.

In a very short time, La Juan D’Arienzo seduced the Buenos Aires dance scene and performed live on television and radio shows. Since 2013, they also have toured throughout Argentina. In 2014, La Juan D’Arienzo made its first international tour of Europe, winning accolades from audiences at milongas and tango festivals in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, and Hungary. The musicians extended their international touring in 2015, to Asia. In 2018 “ La Juan D’Arienzo” is getting ready for its first US tour which is going to take place February-March 2019 performing in cities throughout the United States.

DJS

JUN YI (SAN FRANCISCO, USA)

Intrigued by the intensity of the music and beauty of the dance, Jun started her tango journey when studying at Yale. She later became deeply involved in and started DJing when organizing the regular events of Yale Tango Club including the classical annual Yale Tango Festival. After moving to New York City, the vibrant tango community nourished her growth and helped blossom her into a mature dancer and DJ. Her journey as a tango dancer and DJ, as well as a community-builder continues and expands with her frequent travels to Europe, Argentina and Asia through which she delves deep into the art of creating a music space for dancers and becomes deeply integrated into the global tango community. She has shared her music selections at marathons, Buscandote Houston Tango Marathon, and festivals like Atlanta Tango Marathon, Las Mujeres Tango Marathon, ESO Buffalo Tango Marathon, San Diego Tango Festival in North America as well as many local milongas in China, Europe and Argentina.

With a gentle and sensitive soul actively listening to the dance floor, Jun creates a music space that speaks to dancers’ emotions absorbed in a warm embrace, elegant steps, and playful movement. Known for her impeccable delicacy of story telling, Jun’s music is instrumental in creating some of the most blissful, energized and passionate milongas for those that have had the pleasure of dancing to her music.

MARIANO BEJARANO (MIAMI, USA)

Originally from Argentina, Mariano has been DJ’d for over a decade and regularly plays 8-10 hours a week of tango music for milongas and practicas. He is constantly researching and digging around in the archives of tango music for new inspiration. As a DJ, Mariano’s main concern is always to keep people dancing. For Mariano, DJ’ing is a dynamic relationship with the dancers, and a unique encounter every time – demanding that the DJ be perceptive of the mood, skill level, and synchronicity with the music. For this reason, Mariano never prepares a list of tandas. Every tanda and cortina is a response to the energy of the dancers. As a tango dancer himself, Mariano has a deep appreciations for the complexity of the dance and the art of creating musical inspiration. In addition to DJ’ing his milongas in Miami, Mariano has been invited to DJ in Buenos Aires, Rosario, and throughout the United States (San Diego, Los Angeles, Tampa, Gulfport, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Houston, Chicago, Austin, New York, New Orleans) and at festivals including: Fantasy Festival (Miami), Florida Tango Festival (Ft Lauderdale), Red Carpet Tango (Las Vegas), One City Tango Marathon (Newport News, VA), USF Festival (Tampa), Tango Gypsy Marathon (Detroit),the Honolulu Tango Marathon (Honolulu),Tampa Festathon, Crown Jewel Tango Festivalito among others…He currently organizes the biggest festival in Florida (Miami Sunshine Tango Festival), and also teaches, DJ’s and organizes two milongas in Miami, including one of the longest-running weekly milongas in South Florida.“I want to re-create the excitement of why people in the old days were so crazy to dance this music.” – Mariano Bejarano

MAX STASI (MILAN, ITALY)

Max’s passion for tango began in 1999 as a dancer and collector of tango music. He started Dj-ing in 2006. During this period, He collaborated and continues to work with most of the major Milongas in the Milan area and many venues in northern/central Italy. He regularly DJs at international Marathons/Encuentros/Festivals/Milongas in Europe, North America and Asia. The backbone of his work, organized in Tandas y Cortinas, is represented by the music of the Golden age, with influenceby the orchestras of the Guardia Vieja and the early 1950s.For Max, every event is different and unique. All tandas and transitions are improvised based on observation of the dancefloor, shaping the rhythmic and emotional energy of the dance floor. My motto: “A Tango DJ gig is like a great Red Wine: complex, spicy, bold, intense, harmonic … and after each sip you’re left wanting for more!”Max co-organizes the Milonga in Milan (“La Milonguita della Martesana”), and since 2019, he co-organizes the “Darsena Milano Tango Marathon”.The list of events he has captivated by his Dj-ing magic are too many to list and encompass the entire globe.
